Since coming to Evelyn, he’d been a model Catholic citizen; he volunteered everywhere, showed up to every student life event with a name tag and that wide smile, and he was at Mass twice a week (and went to the rosary service on Thursdays). Lizzy would take him downstairs and feed him waffles, and she told him that the waffles were magic and would make him brave enough to face the dark.
