A Prayer to No God explores devotion, betrayal, faith, and power through a dark monster romance lens. Lyssena shaped it into a chicken, and the small ball of shadow—of god-clay, perhaps, began to strut and cluck like one, head bobbing just like a real chicken. On one hand, he was a god—or a demon—or something that blurred the boundary between the two so completely that the distinction hardly mattered. Through lowered lashes, she sensed the moment he finally moved.
