Saving Sparrow

Sparrow’s tall, lean frame filled the doorway, the dim light from the hall backdropping him. Weapons made him more deadly, but Sparrow was dangerous with or without them. Just days away from losing his battle with diphtheria, the king went against the advice of his council, appointing Demian his successor, and his daughter—Mirabel—Demian’s queen. Their underage son was discovered in the woods in a near-catatonic state with no memory of what happened.
